membership and Transfers

Welcome to Northern Archers. We are pleased to welcome new members and those transferring from other archery clubs and look forward to your positive contribution to our club and its community. As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful and well managed environment for all members, Northern Archers has established the following conditions for members transferring from other clubs.

1. Six Month Probationary Membership.

  • All new members and members transferring to Northern Archers from another club will be subject to a mandatory probationary period of six (6) months from the date their membership transfer is accepted.
  • During this period, the Committee will assess members’ conduct, attitude, compliance with club regulations and overall suitability for continued membership.
Successful completion of the probationary period will be subject to the Committee being satisfied that the member has met the club’s expectations.

2. Previous Club Membership Verification for Transferring Members.

During the probationary period, Northern Archers reserves the right to conduct reasonable membership history and reference checks with clubs where the transferring member has previously held membership. These checks may include:

  • Verification of previous membership and transfer information.
  • Any outstanding disciplinary matters or unresolved complaints.
  • Previous suspensions, terminations or restrictions on membership.
  • Relevant safety concerns or serious breaches of club regulations.
  • Any information that may reasonably affect membership eligibility or the safety and wellbeing of fellow members.
  • Members are expected to provide accurate and complete information when requested and to cooperate with reasonable membership verification procedures.

Should any material discrepancies, deliberate omissions or serious concerns be identified, Northern Archers reserves the right, subject to its constitution, applicable policies and a fair review process, to decline or reverse the transfer where permitted, suspend membership or terminate membership.

3. Club Handbook and Regulations.

  • All members are required to read and familiarise themselves with the Northern Archers Members’ Handbook, available on the club’s website.
  • Members are expected to understand and comply with all club policies, procedures, safety requirements and standards of conduct.
  • Failure to read or understand the handbook will not be accepted as an excuse for non-compliance.

4. Behaviour, Respect and Personal Conduct.

Northern Archers prides itself on being a welcoming, inclusive and respectful club. All members are expected to:

  • Treat fellow members, coaches, officials, volunteers and visitors with courtesy, dignity and respect.
  • Demonstrate good sportsmanship, maturity and consideration towards others.
  • Refrain from bullying, harassment, intimidation, discrimination, aggressive behaviour or inappropriate language.
  • Respect the authority and reasonable directions of club officials, coaches, Range Officers and Committee members.
  • Avoid disruptive behaviour, unnecessary conflict, gossip or conduct that creates an uncomfortable or hostile club environment.
  • Respect club facilities, equipment, property and the personal belongings of others.
  • Conduct themselves responsibly when representing Northern Archers at competitions, events and other archery activities.

5. Safety and Range Discipline – Safety is non negotiable at Northern Archers.

  • Members must comply with all range safety procedures, shooting rules and instructions issued by authorised club personnel.
  • Any serious safety breach, reckless conduct or deliberate disregard of safety instructions may result in immediate suspension from shooting activities pending investigation and further disciplinary action.

6. Hygiene, Cleanliness and Use of Club Amenities.

Northern Archers is a shared facility, and every member has a responsibility to maintain a clean, hygienic, safe and pleasant environment for everyone. All members are expected to:

  • Maintain appropriate standards of personal hygiene when attending and participating in club activities.
  • Keep toilets, washrooms, kitchen areas, seating areas and all other shared amenities clean and tidy after use.
  • Dispose of rubbish, food waste and other materials responsibly in the bins provided.
  • Clean up after themselves, including washing or putting away any cups, plates, utensils or equipment used.
  • Respect club property and facilities, ensuring they are used appropriately and not damaged, misused or left in an unsatisfactory condition.
  • Report any damage, maintenance concerns or unhygienic conditions to a Committee member promptly.
  • Leave all facilities in a condition that is suitable and welcoming for the next person.

Members are reminded that club amenities are provided for everyone’s benefit and must be treated with care and respect. Repeated disregard for cleanliness, hygiene or the responsible use of shared facilities may result in disciplinary action.

7. Membership Is Subject to Ongoing Compliance.

Membership at Northern Archers is a privilege that carries responsibilities.

  • The club expects members to contribute positively to its culture and uphold its values both on and off the shooting range when participating in club related activities.
  • The Committee reserves the right to review the membership of any individual whose behaviour, conduct or actions are inconsistent with the club’s constitution, handbook, policies or reasonable standards of conduct.
  • Where serious or repeated breaches occur, disciplinary action may include formal warnings, suspension from club activities or termination of membership, subject to applicable procedures.

8. Committee Decisions and Disciplinary Matters.

Northern Archers is committed to maintaining a harmonious and safe environment for everyone. Any concerns regarding a member’s conduct or eligibility will be reviewed by the Committee in accordance with the club’s constitution and relevant disciplinary procedures. Members will be given a reasonable opportunity to respond to allegations before a final disciplinary decision is made, except where immediate interim action is necessary to protect safety or well being.

  • The Committee may impose appropriate conditions, restrictions or disciplinary measures where justified.
  • We strongly encourage all transferring members to approach their membership with a positive attitude, mutual respect and a genuine commitment to contributing to the Northern Archers community.
  • Our aim is simple: to provide a safe, friendly, disciplined and enjoyable archery environment where everyone feels welcome and respected.
  • We appreciate your understanding and cooperation and look forward to your participation at Northern Archers.
