Northern Recurvers Clean Up
@ NSW Metropolitan

On the 4th and 5th of February 41 archers attended Homebush to compete in the annual Double FITA.

Archers compete in either Open, Division 2 or 3 depending upon their ability and experience.

Homebush, known for its difficult shooting conditions, turned on some pretty decent weather, with a stiff breeze only rearing its head for the final distance on the second day. The only inconvenience really was the water underfoot from the previous week's rain.

Debbie and Michael Naray along with Cameron and Anthony Maxworthy shot the event with Debbie taking Gold in the Open woman, Michael Gold in the Open Men and Anthony Gold in the Div 2 men. Anthony also managed to outshoot a few of the Open men to take Bronze in that division.

The shoot also included a team's event with Northern finishing on top with 6831 ahead of SOPA with 6285 and NSW Uni 3645

The weekend scores are available on the Archery NSW website.

Well done all! - Anthony Maxworthy

Aimee Deaves @ World Cup Tournament

8 August 2011

Aimee attended the World Cup (Stage Three) in Ogden, UTAH last week and was extremely pleased with her results and is looking forward to the next event in Shanghai.

In the 50m 720 Ranking Aimee shot a total of 661 (334/327) which placed her 29th overall. She won her first match against Iranian Masoumeb Alipour (132-124) which was very exciting!

Aimee then came up against Erika Anshultz (World Number 1), it was a tight match (144-139) but Erika prevailed.

Aimee then shot teams against number one ranked USA with Sherry Gale and Deb Nicholson. The team shot extremely well against the Americans (233-221) breaking the Australian record!

Aimee will be heading off to attend the next World Cup (Stage Four) in Shanghai in early September - we wish her all the best!
